ThorpeWood is a 155-acre mountain retreat located in the Catoctin Mountains near Thurmont, MD. The beautiful setting of forests, meadows, arboretum, wetlands, and native trout streams provides a tranquil location for their primary mission – providing education and personal development programs for at-risk youth. ThorpeWood also has plentiful space outdoors and in their “green construction” timber frame lodge. The facility is ideal for corporate events and weddings during all seasons, frequent community gatherings, and learning and volunteer opportunities for children and adults. ThorpeWood is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Support for their education programs is provided by a combination of resources, including foundation grants, donations by generous contributors, and revenues from event use of ThorpeWood’s facilities.
The latter is where Canapés plays a significant role. When the lodge at ThorpeWood was being designed, Canapés owner M.L. Carroll was asked to help with the design of the kitchen. Little did she realize just how significant this would become in later years. In November, 2007 Canapés became the exclusive caterer for all ThorpeWood functions. This relationship has proven very successful for both corporations.
